Why we collected this quote

Honestly, one of the purest sources of joy in the prequel trilogy. Yoda’s “How embarrassing!” delivered to a bunch of small children is effortlessly funny – and the fact that it’s Yoda doing the teasing makes it even better. This is our go-to example of why the prequels, at their best, are genuinely fun.

What does this quote mean? (Meaning & Context)

Obi-Wan has come to the Jedi archive to look up a planet that exists in records kept by an old friend, but doesn’t appear on any official map. When the archivist can’t help, Obi-Wan goes to the Jedi school room – where Yoda is teaching younglings – to ask for help. The children immediately spot that a missing entry means someone deleted it. Yoda’s gleeful jab at Obi-Wan’s expense is completely in character.

Fun facts & Trivia

The youngling who provides the actual answer – suggesting the planet must have been deleted from the archives – is doing better detective work than the entire Jedi Council. George Lucas has said the scene was partly written to show that wisdom isn’t always about experience or rank.
