Ellie Williams: After all we've been through everything I've done it can't be for nothing. I know you mean well. I know you wanna protect me. You have. And when we're done, we'll go wherever you want. Tommy's, sheep ranch, the moon. I'll follow you anywhere you go. But there's no halfway with this. We finish what we started.
(Riley and Ellie get bitten...)
Riley Abel: We just keep going.
Ellie Williams: What are you talking about, Riley? It's over.
Riley Abel: It will be, but not yet. It ends this way for everyone sooner or later, right? Some of us just get there faster than others. But we don't quit. Whether it's two minutes or two days we don't give that up. I don't wanna give that up. We can just be all poetic and sh*t and lose our minds together.
Captain Kwong: You swallow this pride of yours. You follow the rules. You become an officer. You get your own room. You get a nice bed. We eat well. We don't go on patrol. We're cool in the summer. We're warm in the winter. And best of all, when you're an officer, you get to tell the Bethanys of the world exactly where to shove it.
Ellie Williams: Why do you even care?
Captain Kwong: I care because no matter what anyone out there says or thinks, we're the only thing holding this all together. If we go down, the people in the zone will starve or murder each other. That much I know. There's a leader in you. And one day, it could be your turn.
Joel Miller: I've been thinkin'. I don't want a sheep ranch, actually. I mean, if the deal is I can do anything?
Ellie Williams: That's the deal.
Joel Miller: Well when I was a kid, I wanted to be a singer.
Ellie Williams (laughs): Shut up.
Joel Miller: Why is that funny?
Ellie Williams: You gotta sing something now.
Joel Miller: No.
Ellie Williams: Come on, man. I'm not gonna laugh.
Joel Miller: You're already laughin'.
Ellie Williams: Yeah, okay, true. Well, you're singin' for me later. I'm gonna save the f**kin' world, man. It's the least you can do for me.
Joel Miller: Fair enough.
Ellie Williams: I'm sorry about your daughter, Joel. But I have lost people, too.
Joel Miller: You have no idea what loss is.
Ellie Williams: Everybody I have cared for has either died or left me. Everybody, f**king except for you! So don't tell me that I'd be safer with somebody else because the truth is I would just be more scared.
