Scattered Quotes is a collection of quotes from fictional works — or as we like to call them, stories — plus a few extras on other topics like inspiration, life, or holidays.
We roughly group everything into two categories: Story Quotes (from TV shows, movies, books, and games) and Topic Quotes (from real people, usually the smart, wise, or funny kind).
Our goal is to build a place where anyone can explore and enjoy quotes. Whether you’re looking for something to post, something to laugh at, something to mindlessly doom scroll through, or just something that brings back memories, we hope you find it here.
The Name
So… why “Scattered Quotes”? Honestly? It was one of those “that domain’s still available, quick grab it!” moments. After many failed brainstorming sessions trying to come up with something clever, we settled on a random word that somehow just clicked.
We didn’t know we’d end up loving it, but we do. It fits. The quotes are scattered across stories, genres, and fandoms. Some are funny, some deep, some completely out of context. Like a well-loved stack of sticky notes that somehow makes perfect sense to you.
Also, have you seen our logo? Little quotes flying around like they’re trying to escape from the quote collection.
Sure, it’s a bit of a tongue-twister to say out loud. But we’re sticking with it. Too late to back out now.
The history
Scattered Quotes, in its current form, started at the end of 2016. But the idea behind it goes back further. Before this site, there was a tiny blog that used to list the best moments from TV show episodes — mostly as a fun side project. Over time, it grew into something bigger, and eventually landed here.

We’re a small team of fans who are absolutely obsessed with stories – the kind told in TV shows, movies, books, and games. We’re the ones who quote iconic lines in conversations, rewatch our favorite scenes over and over, and often pause to scribble down the good bits.

We like to call ourselves quote collectors. We’re not experts or critics, just people who really love fictional worlds and want to make sure the best lines get remembered (and quoted right). Whether it’s a short funny one-liner or a powerful speech that gives you chills, we’re here for it. We handpick our favorite lines while binge-watching, reading, or playing, then recheck them with subtitles and put together lists of the ones that stand out the most.

“Story” Quotes
“Stories” are our way of grouping anything fictional. That means quotes from TV shows, movies, books, or games… basically anything with characters and dialogue.
We needed one word to describe them all in contrast to our Topic Quotes, so we just started calling them Story Quotes.
Our take on these might be a little different from other quote sites. We don’t just collect short quotes, we also include longer lines, full speeches, and sometimes even full dialogues if the context calls for it.
All the quotes are handpicked while watching, reading, or playing. If it stands out, makes us laugh, gives us chills, or just feels like something worth saving, it goes on the list. Some are even submitted by you, our lovely readers.
From those, a few favorites get turned into image quotes. When possible, we double-check everything with subtitles or scripts to make sure it’s accurate.

Topic Quotes
Topic Quotes are mostly the non-fiction kind — the type you see filling social media captions, profile bios, or random Pinterest boards.
Don’t know what to post? Throw in a quote. Need a caption? Quote. You know the drill… you’ve seen it, probably done it too.
We focus on curating the best ones, not just the biggest collections. It’s kind of a quality-over-quantity thing… or at least as close as you can get to quality when it comes to quotes.
These are short blurbs from real people, sayings that are wise, funny, thoughtful, or just interesting enough to make someone stop scrolling for a second.
